Men's Golf In Fifth Place at Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The East Carolina University men's golf team is in fifth place after the first round of the Furman Intercollegiate. The tournament is being hosted by Furman University and is being held at the par-72, 6,800-yard Furman Golf Course. Twenty-two teams are participating in the three-day event.

The Pirates shot 297 in round one, just seven stroked off the leader, Virginia Tech, which finished at 290, two strokes over par. The host school, Furman, is in second place. Coastal Carolina is in third, and Francis Marion in fourth.

Jonathan Hill and Jason Harris are both leading the Pirates in a tied for 10th place, having shot 73 in round one.

Round two of the tournament is being played Saturday, and round three will be played on Sunday.
