Krasny Shoots Even-Par In Second Round At Liz Murphey Classic
03/27/2004 ATHENS, GA. – Senior Jessica Krasny posted an even-par (72) second round score to move into a tie for 16th (76-72=148) heading into final round action on Sunday at the prestigious Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,014-yard Georgia Country Club course. Krasny sits nine strokes back of co-leaders Brittany Lang of Duke and Lindsay Knowlton of Ohio State, who both have posted 36-hole scores of 139. Florida State's Katie Quinney and Georgia's Allison Martin are tied for third (141), while Nicole Hage of Auburn and Kristen White of Ohio State sit in fifth, 142. Adrienne Millican was the only other Lady Pirate to post a second round score better than 80. She sits tied for 44th with fellow Pirate Margaret Mitchell with a two-day total of 153. In the team portion of the tournament, the Lady Pirates (85-28-1) dropped four spots and currently occupy 11th place. ECU (611) posted a second round score of 310 and sits 22 strokes out of fifth place. Ohio State (291-283=574) extended its first round lead over Georgia to six strokes (292-288=580) behind the play of Allison Martin's 69 on Saturday. Duke slipped to third place (583), followed by Auburn (588) and Oklahoma State (589). "We struggled a bit today," said head coach Kevin Williams. "But we are still in a position to reach our goal of the NCAA Regionals with a strong showing on Sunday. We will need to finish ahead of Alabama, Mississippi State and hope to pick up some other wins to accomplish that goal." The Lady Pirates (No. 54) are one of 18 teams participating in the tournament along with: Duke (No.1), Georgia (No. 5), Ohio State (No.6), , Auburn (No. 8), Oklahoma State (No. 10), Michigan State (No. 15), , Wake Forest (No. 18), Tennessee (No. 22), Furman (No. 23), South Carolina (No. 27), Arkansas (No. 28), Florida State (No. 33), Kent State (No. 35), Mississippi (No. 39), Alabama (No. 41), Mississippi State (No. 62), and Kentucky (No. 77).
