GREENVILLE, N.C. -- East Carolina University's men's golf team finished in third place at the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate. The tournament, in which 19 teams participated, was held at the par-72, 7,151-yard Bradford Creek Golf Course in Greenville, N.C.

UNC Wilmington won the tournament for the third straight year, finishing with a score of 881. The Seahawks shot had the lowest score in the first and third rounds, and edged out Coastal Carolina by just one stroke. Coastal finished with a score of 882. East Carolina shot a 302 in the third round to take sole possession of the third place spot with a combined score of 894, beating out Elon, which finished at 895, having shot 303 in the final round.

Jonathan Hill won the individual title after competing in a four-hole playoff. Three players were tied for the lead after the end of round three. Hill, along with Tony DiBitetto of UNCW and Dale Ketola of Coastal all finished with scores of 216. Ketola was knocked out of the competition after the first playoff hole when Hill and DiBitetto both shot birdies and Ketola made par. On the second and third playoff holes, Hill and DiBitetto both made par and then birdied. It was the fourth playoff hole in which Hill won the competition, making par as DiBitetto bogeyed the hole, giving Hill the championship. The win was Hill's second in a row at home. He also won the Pirates' fall tournament in a three-hole playoff.

"I am very proud of the way Jonathan Hill competed today," said ECU head coach Kevin Williams. "It was a tough stretch on the back nine and Jonathan really concentrated and payed well. I think he has a legitimate shot at making the NCAAs as an individual. Unfortunately for our team, we are just not playing well right now like we were back in the fall and even last spring. Our goal for the remainder of the season is just to improve each week and get prepared for the conference championships."

The men will next compete in the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., April 11-12. IT will be the final tournament before the conference championships in Pensacola, Fla.
