ECU's Robin Smith Drops To Third After Day Two At C-USA Golf Championships
04/19/2005 GULFPORT, MS. - East Carolina men's junior golfer Robin Smith dropped two spots into a tie for third at the 2005 Conference USA Men's Golf Championships after carding a two-over par 74 in second round action Tuesday. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 7,093-yard Grand Bear Golf Club in Gulfport, Miss. The Pirates (73-64-5), who are currently in ninth place, posted a second round score of 308 and sit 11 strokes out of sixth heading into final round action on Wednesday. TCU (560) leads the team portion of the event and holds a 19-stroke advantage over second place Charlotte (579). UAB (582) is in third after a 296 second round with Tulane (583) and Houston (589) sitting in fourth and fifth respectively. A pair of Horned Frogs sit a top the individual leader board with Colby Beckstrom (138) clinging to a one-stroke lead over fellow golfer Drew Stoltz. UAB's Garrett Osborn is tied with Smith in third at 140, while David Schultz (TCU) and Clint Deibert (Charlotte) are tied for fifth with a two-day score of 141.
