09/29/2003 Simpsonville, KY. -- East Carolina's Jason Harris and Robin Smith are currently tied for 19th after 54-holes at the Cardinal Intercollegiate. The tournament is being held at the par-72, 7,001-yard Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky. Both Harris (76-73) and Smith (72-77) shot a 36-hole total 149, putting them 10 strokes off the lead behind Gareth Maybin of South Alabama who shot a two-round total 139. ECU's Jeff Crowe is sitting at a tie for 35th after posting a 151 (75-76), while freshman Ryan Leveque and sophomore Philip Reale, II. are tied for 63rd. The Pirates (7-6), one of 14 teams participating the second annual tournament, are currently in 10th place after posting a 607 (300-307) in day one. Host school Louisville shot a pair of 291's and sit a top the leader board with a 582. Southern Miss is in second with a 585 (294-291) and Eastern Kentucky (302-284=586), and South Alabama (294-292=586) are tied for third place. "We struggled a bit on the greens today," said ECU head coach Kevin Williams. "They are a lot faster that what we are accustomed to playing on, and that was a big challenge for us. I think that we can turn this tournament around with a solid round tomorrow."
