Ryan Leveque And Men's Golf Team Win Pirate Fall Intercollegiate
10/21/2003 GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Freshman Ryan Leveque captured his first tournament championship of his career after shooting a 54-hole three-under par 213 (68-72-73) at the Pirate Fall Intercollegiate. The tournament was being held at the par-72, 7,033-yard course at Bradford Creek Country Club in Greenville, N.C. Fellow Pirates Philip Reale, II finished in a five-way tie for third after posting a two-over 216 (71-71-76), Jason Harris finished eighth with a 219 (74-70-75) and Jeff Crowe even-par third round to finish in a tie for 13th with a 221 (73-76-72). Both Leveque and Reale played the tournament as individuals. James Hockman of Elon finished a close second with a three-round total of 214 (66-71-77). The Pirates (31-29-2), one of 18 schools participating in the third annual tournament, claimed its first team championship of the year and its first ever Pirate Fall Intercollegiate title. ECU posted a 54-hole total 882 (289-293-300), while Elon finished two strokes behind in second with a 884 (285-289-310), and Florida Atlantic claimed third place with an 892 (294-294-304). "I am extremely proud of how our team came out and played today," said ECU head coach Kevin Williams. "This was the first time we have won our own tournament and it was Ryan's first career win. The conditions were not favorable today and we knew that it would be tough to post a good score." ECU will be back in action Oct. 27-28, when they travel to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Georgetown Hoya Invitational. Top Pirate Finishes Top Individual Finishes Top Team Finishes
