Swimming And Diving Teams Sweep Dual Meet From College of Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- East Carolina swept a pair of dual swim meets from the College of Charleston at the 25-meter Stern Center pool Saturday on the College of Charleston campus. ECU won the women's meet 101-89, while it's men claimed a 102-78 decision in the season-opening meet for both squads. Sophomore Ryan Hunt swept the men's one-meter and three-meter diving competitions, while senior Lucy Hicks won the three-meter dive and sophomore Christie Icenhower placed first in the one-meter dive. Seniors Kelly Shinton (200 IM), Adrienne Williams (50 free) and Holly Williams (200 fly) each claimed an individual first place finish as they began their final season of competition. Other winners included: Brennan Gaeckle and Andrew Phelps in the 800 free, Jennie Meade and Greg Neville in the 200 free, Chris Lubenau in the 50 free, Charlie McCanless in the 200 IM, Matt Donohue in the 200 fly and Kate Gordon and Bryan Yasinac in the 100 free. A total of 15 different ECU student-athletes claimed individual first place finishes, while capturing all of the relay events.
The Pirates return to competition on Saturday, Oct. 22 against Davidson. The meet is schedule for a 1 p.m. start on the Davidson campus.
