DAVIDSON, N.C. --- The East Carolina men and women's swimming and diving teams each improved to 2-0 by posting a victory over Davidson on Saturday at Cannon Natatorium. The men's team downed Davidson, 137-104, while the women's team claimed a 139-87 victory.

The women's team was led by senior Lucy Hicks and sophomore Megan Pulaski, who each posted a pair of first place finishes, as the Lady Pirates swept all events for a second consecutive week.

Pulaski won both of the distance free events, capturing the 500 free with a time of 5:11.45 and the 1,000 free in 10:31.95. Hicks swept the diving events, posting a score of 230.33 on the one-meter board and a total of 247.35 on the three-meter board. ECU claimed the top three spots four of nine events won Saturday.

Other first place finishers on the women's side included: Jennie Meade (200 free, 1:55.77), Adrienne Williams (50 free, 24.57), Kate Gordon (400 IM, 4:34.54), and Emily Loyd (200 fly, 2:10.15).

Sophomore Ryan Hunt swept the diving events to lead the men's squad. Hunt registered a score of 257.26 on the one-meter board and a tally of 249.54 on the three-meter board.

Bryan Yasinac, a transfer from the University of Florida, claimed first place in the 50 free with a time of 22.34. ECU also claimed first place in two 200-yard events. Matt Donohue touched first in the 200 fly (1:58.66) and Greg Neville earned a first place finish the 200 back (1:57.35).

The Pirates also won the 400 medley and 400 free relay races.

 

 

ECU returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 29, in a tri-meet with George Mason and William & Mary. The meet is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start in Fairfax, Va.
