Swimming & Diving Conclude Nike Cup Competition

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- The East Carolina men and women's swimming and diving teams completed Nike Cup competition on Saturday with the men claiming a sixth place finish, while the ladies finished in seventh place. Junior Rebecca Perry made her NCAA 'B' cut in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.87. Perry also reached the finals of the 100-yard backstroke where she placed 11th. Her highest finish of the competition was eighth in the 50-yard freestyle. Senior Kate Gordon recorded her second top 10 finish of the cup by placing seventh in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:03.54. She also earned a sixth place finish in the 100-yard butterfly on Friday. Fellow senior Matt Donohue placed ninth in the same event on the men's side with a time of 1:51.88. Sophomore Amanda Duncam also earned a ninth place finish in the women's 100-yard butterfly earlier in the meet. The best finish by any member of the men's team was an eighth place finish by freshman Kristian Ramkvist in the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday. Junior Megan Pulaski earned a 12th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle on the first day of competition with a time of 5:04.29 after reaching the finals with a mark of 4:59.16 in the preliminaries. Another ECU freshman that reached the finals of an event was Jacquelynn Jones, who placed 10th in the 400 IM. Junior diver Christie Icenhower earned a sixth place finish on the three-meter boards with a score of 285.60. She also claimed a sixth place finish on the one-meter board. WOMEN'S TEAM SCORES
