Pirate Swimmers Set Records On Day One Of C-USA Championship

  • HOUSTON, TEXAS - The East Carolina women's Swimming and Diving team sits tied for third while the ECU men are currently in first place after the first day of the Conference USA Women's Swimming and Diving Championship and Men's Invitational. Both events are being held at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium at the University of Houston.

    Casey Cronin highlighted the day breaking the C-USA and ECU varsity records during his 200-yard freestyle (1:38.83) leg of the 800 freestyle relay.

    On the women's side, the 200 freestyle relay team of Sarah Hunt, Adrienne Williams, Lindsay Holman, and Marty Snead finished fourth in an ECU record 1:34.31. ECU's 800 freestyle relay team of Diane Parker, Jennie Meade, Sarah Hunt, and Megan Pulaski placed third in an ECU record 7:29.15.

    On the men's side, the 800 freestyle relay team of Cronin, Charlie McCanless, Greg Neville, and Gavin Stark swam a 6:49.19.

    Freshman Ryan Hunt placed third in the one-meter (276.90) diving event.

    ECU continues competition Thursday with preliminary rounds being held in the morning. The top swimmers from the morning session will advance to the finals in the evening session.
