GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina men's and women's swim team completed competition at the U.S. Open meet Dec. 2-4 in San Antonio, Texas, where they qualified for a school-best 11 swims at the evening finals.

Senior Casey Cronin led the way finaling in all four of his events (200 IM, 200 FR, 100 FR, 200 BR), while freshman Josh Barthlow (200 BK, 100 BK) and senior Kelly Hendrick (50 FR, 100 BK) finaled in two events each. Barthlow's ninth place finish in the 100 backstroke was the best finish for the men.

Senior Diane Parker led the women with two final swims in the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly, while Holly Williams swam in the 200 butterfly during the evening session.

Seven swimmers made the trip out west to compete in one of the nation's fastest meets, which included 465 student-athletes from the United States and six foreign countries as well as a number of former Olympic Medalists.

"Overall it was a very successful trip," said Head Coach Rick Kobe. "We will now focus on exams and training hard to set up for a great spring semester."
