ECU Men's Tennis Blanks Longwood

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- The East Carolina men's tennis team completed its weekend sweep Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 win over Longwood at ECU Indoor Tennis Center after posting a 6-1 win over Norfolk State on Friday. The Pirates improved to 3-0 with the win, while Longwood slipped to 2-2. ECU captured the doubles point for a third consecutive match with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Joran Vliegen and Colin Roller were the first to win, outlasting Dan Elston and Giorgi Khmiadshvili, 8-6. Damien Brenard and John Schmitt teamed up at No. 2 to hold off Edward Becker and Harry Kelleher, 9-8 (14) to clinch the point. ECU won all six singles matches in straight sets. Vliegen defeated Khmiadshvili at No.1, 6-1, 6-0. Nicolas Soriano disposed of Elston at No. 2, 6-4, 6-3. Schmitt didn't lose a set on court three posting a 6-0, 6-0 win over Becker. Brenard took down Kelleher at No. 4, 6-4, 6-2. Roller blanked Steed Johnson at the No. 5 position, 6-0, 6-0 and Patriek Wolterbeek completed the sweep at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-4 over Bharani Sankar.
