ECU Tennis Blanks UNC Asheville 7-0

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina men's tennis squad swept six matches and earned the doubles point to post a convincing 7-0 non-conference victory over UNC Asheville Saturday evening at the Asheville Racquet Club. The win improved the Pirates' dual match record to 2-0 while the Bulldogs remained winless at 0-2. ECU's top-seeded singles player, Jaroslav Horvath, set the tone by cruising to a 6-4, 6-2 win over Mauricio Correa. Denis Ermilov rallied back in the No. 2 position matchup against Nicolai Nonnenbroich to claim a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8) victory. The No. 3 seed, Stephen Whitwell, defeated Jonas Brobeck (6-1, 6-3), while Henrik Skalmerud upended Nathan White (6-2, 6-4) at the No. 4 slot, Aleksey Kochetov rolled past Innokentiy Sedov (6-0, 6-1) at No. 5 and Bryan Oakley dispatched Alexander Greer (6-0, 6-3) in the No. 6 position. In doubles competition, Ermilov and Horvath teamed up for a 9-8 win in the No. 1 spot over Brobeck and Correa, Kochetov and Skalmerud defeated Greer and White (8-6) at No. 2, and Whitwell and Oakley handed Joe May and Nonnenbroich an 8-5 loss at No. 3.
