Campbell Ends Pirates' Win Streak, 5-2

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell tallied the doubles point and added four singles wins to down visiting East Carolina, 5-2, in non-conference tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Nisbet Tennis Center. The Pirates had their six-match winning streak snapped and fell to 9-2 on the season. The Camels are now on a four-match win streak and improved their record to 6-3. Campbell claimed the opening point by using doubles triumphs at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots. Davy Sum and Dominik Kaniewski produced an 8-2 victory over Henrik Skalmerud and Stian Tvedt, while Josep Baro and Larbi Lamzouri defeated Bryan Oakley and Stephen Whitwell 8-5. East Carolina halted the sweep by closing out pairs play with a 8-2 victory by Jaroslav Horvath and John Schmitt over Ondrej Kralik and Loukas Wallaart at No. 3. The Camels pushed their lead to 4-0 with two-set triumphs at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 singles positions before Skalmerud took the No.4 matchup 6-2,6-2 over Wallaart to earn ECU their first tally. After winning the first set, Schmitt would eventually fall to David Clavera 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 in at No.5. In the No.6 match up Oakley stopped Dominik Kaniewski 6-3,6-3 to earn ECU its second and final tally. East Carolina will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Richmond, Va. to take on Richmond. CAMPBELL 5, EAST CAROLINA 2
