LAKELAND, Fla. - The East Carolina men's tennis team opened its spring break trip through Florida with a 9-0 win over Division II Florida Southern on Monday.
The Pirates opened the match by sweeping all three doubles matches. Joran Vliegen and Colin Roller won at No. 1, 8-4. Miles Holvoet and Patriek Wolterbeek, along with Damien Brenard and Nicolas Soriano closed out the victory in doubles.
Vliegen earned a win over Benoit Paradis at No. 1, 6-3, 6-1, while Mario Martinez defeated Emanuel Lueber in straight sets, 7-5, 6-0. Soriano beat Nathan Leavitt in straight sets on court three, 6-0, 6-3 as Brenard outlasted Carl Lundberg at No. 4, 6-1, 7-6.
The Pirates return to action Thursday, March 13 against Conference USA newcomer Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton. That contest is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
