Pirates Roll To Eighth Straight Win

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. --- East Carolina defeated NCAA Division II Flagler College, 8-1, Thursday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center for its eighth consecutive victory. The Pirates improved to 11-1 overall and Flagler, ranked 33rd in Division II, fell to 3-7.
The Pirates won two of three doubles matches and won all six singles matches tallying eight points according to NCAA Division II scoring rules.
The duo of Joran Vliegen and Colin Roller improved to 9-0 as doubles tandem this spring with an 8-4 win at No. 1 over the team of Jose Martinez and Stephan Stolz. Nicolas Soriano and Patriek Wolterbeek improved to 8-1 as a pair this spring with an 8-3 win at No. 3 over Justen Louis/David Espinosa.
The Pirates swept through the singles competition, winning all six matches in straight sets. Vliegen improved to 12-0 at the No. 1 position and Soriano recorded his 10th consecutive singles victory after dropping his first match of the season.
East Carolina returns to action March 21 at UNCG.
