ECU Defeats Charlotte To Remain Perfect At Home

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina remained undefeated at home with a 5-2 victory over Charlotte at the ECU Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday. The Pirates improved to 12-2 overall this season, including an 8-0 record at home.

Junior Joran Vliegen and freshman Colin Roller both had solid days against Charlotte, each winning their singles matches and combining for a doubles win. Vliegen won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and Roller notched a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6. They combined to win No. 1 doubles 8-6.

Damien Brenard and John Schmitt clinched the doubles point for the Pirates with an 8-6 victory at No. 2.

In singles play, Nicolas Soriano defeated Alex Calhott at No. 3 (6-1, 6-4) and Mario Martinez beat Krzysztof Kwasniewicz at No. 5 (6-2, 6-2).

The Pirates return to the courts Saturday, March 30 against Coastal Carolina. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. at the ECU Tennis Complex.
