ECU Men's Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision To High Point

GREENVILLE, N.C. - High Point used a pivotal doubles point to break a singles draw and capture a 4-3 non-conference win over East Carolina Wednesday afternoon at the ECU Tennis Complex. The setback dropped the Pirates' record to 8-11 on the season while High Point improved to 10-9. East Carolina's No. 2 flight duo, composed of Nick Rose and Brian Walters, posted the Pirates' lone doubles match victory of the afternoon with an 8-2 decision over Benjamin Deloume and Jack Notton. In other doubles action, ECU's top-seeded pair of Ricardo Barone and Aleksey Kochetov fell to Chris Archer and Mike Tolman (8-3) while the Pirates No. 3 tandem, Mike Catalano and Henrique Viana, came up short in an 8-6 outcome to David Perren and Jim Trussler. In singles play, Kochetov knocked off Archer 6-1, 6-1 in a No. 2 matchup, Barone took care of Notton 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 3 slot and Walters outlasted Deloume in a 6-3, 7-5 victory at the No. 5 position. High Point earned wins at the No. 1 (Tolman over Viana 6-1, 6-1), No. 4 (Bobby Brooke over Rose 2-6, 6-4, 6-0) and No. 6 flights (Trussler over Catalano 6-2, 6-2). The Pirates will take a week off before returning to action April 12 when they host Elon in a match slated to start at 2:00 p.m. HIGH POINT 4, EAST CAROLINA 3
