Men's Tennis Loses At UNC Wilmington, 7-0

WILMINGTON, N.C. --- The East Carolina men's tennis team lost 7-0 to instate rival UNC Wilmington Thursday afternoon.

The Seahawks headed into singles action 1-0 over the Pirates after sweeping the doubles point. The ECU duo of Niels Cleeren and Joran Vliegen lost at No. 1 to Kosta Blank and Chris Cooprider of UNCW. Damien Brenard paired up with Nicolas Soriano and lost the second doubles match atthe No. 2 spot by an 8-2 decision, clinching the point for UNCW.

East Carolina dropped all but one match in straight sets during singles play. Mario Martinez was the lone Pirate to go three sets on court six, but lost to Michael Riley in the tie breaker (6-0, 6-7, 1-0).

The Pirate men's tennis team returns home Saturday to face Elon at 1 p.m.
