RICHMOND, Va. --- The East Carolina men's tennis team earned its first victory of the season late Friday by defeating James Madison, 4-1, at the VCU 4x1 Invitational after suffering a season opening loss to Winthrop, 2-3.

David Mansell, Felipe Fonseca and Nick Rose each posted staright set victories against James Madison, while the team of Henrique Viana and Robert Stasch won the doubles' point to claim the match.

Fonseca and Viana also claimed singles match victories against Winthrop.

Saturday afternoon, the Pirates fell victim to VCU in their match their of the tournament, 4-0.
