GREENVILLE, N.C. -- East Carolina sophomore Joran Vliegen earned some individual recognition this week as he became the first player in school history to enter the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Men's Division I National Singles Rankings. Vliegen is ranked 105 in the latest compilation.

He has posted a 6-2 overall singles record this season, playing seven of his at matches at the No. 1 position. Among his victories is a come-from-behind triumph over Memphis' David O'Hare (3-6, 6-2, 11-9), who was ranked 50th at the time of their match. Each of his two losses came in three sets, while five of his victories were in straight sets. Vliegen has won six matches in a row since dropping his first two of the season.

Vliegen and his ECU teammates return to action Saturday, Feb. 18 against Appalachian State. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in Boone, N.C.
