GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina men's tennis team returns to action on Sunday when it hosts a doubleheader at the River Birth Tennis Center, taking on George Washington at noon before facing Barton College at 5 p.m.
The Pirates (10-3) return to the courts following a nine-day layoff looking to remain unbeaten at home after defeating Conference USA newcomer UTSA, 4-3, last time out. East Carolina is 8-0 at home this season. George Washington comes to Greenville with a 4-4 record on the heels of a 4-3 victory over No. 60 UNCW on Saturday after blanking No. 70 Charlotte on Friday, 4-0. Barton College (6-2) will be looking to score the upset after falling to North Greenville, 5-4, Saturday.
The match with George Washington will feature two ranked players, ECU's Joran Vliegen and GW's Francisco Dias. Both players fell in the last ITA rankings. Vliegen dropped from No. 13 to 20, while Dias slid down from 79th to 114. Last season Vliegen defeated Dias 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 1 position, but the Colonials earned a 4-3 victory. ECU shut out Barton last season, 5-0.
