Men's Tennis Eases Past UNC Wilmington
03/19/2003 GREENVILLE, N.C. — East Carolina posted straight set victories in six of seven singles flights and won two of three doubles matches en route to a 7-0 win over UNC Wilmington in men's tennis Wednesday at the ECU Tennis Complex. With the victory, the Pirates ended their four match losing streak and improved to 4-7 overall. The Pirates rolled through the singles competition as Charl Meyer, Paulo Baumer, Edward Cooper, Felipe Fonseca and Nick Rose each won in straight sets in flights two through six. Brad Sullivan dropped the first set of his match in flight one, but rallied to win the next two. In doubles competition, Rose and Baumer won at flight two, 8-6, while Fonseca and Cooper also recorded an 8-6 win at flight three. The Pirates will return to action on Friday, March 21, when they host NC State at the ECU Tennis Complex beginning at 2 p.m.
