Men's Tennis Rolls Past Appalachian State

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina swept the doubles point and won four-of-six singles matches to defeat Appalachian State in men's tennis action at the ECU Tennis Complex on Tuesday, 5-2. The Pirates claimed three of it's four singles victories in straight sets.,p> With the victory, ECU improved its overall record to 9-10, winning for the second time in its past three matches.

Senior Paulo Baumer posted a straight sets victory at No. 1 singles, as did sophomore Darren Mansell at No. 4 singles and junior Nick Rose at No. 5 singles. Senior Felipe Fonseca rallied to win the super tie-breaker (6-3, 5-7, 1-0) after dropping the second set at No. 2 singles.

The Pirates return to action on Thursday, March 31, at the University of Richmond. The match is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start.
