GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Freshman Mario Martinez was named second-team All-Conference USA as voted upon by the league's nine head coaches. Martinez is the sixth player to be named to an all-conference team since the Pirates joined the league in 2002.

Martinez compiled an overall record of 10-3 during his rookie season, including a 6-1 mark during dual match play. Martinez won eight of his 10 final matches, including the last three. He recorded nine straight-set victories and rallied from a set down to win his 10th.

Martinez helped the Pirates post a 13-11 overall record this season and reach the quarterfinals of the 2011 Conference USA Championships.
