URBANA, Ill. - The East Carolina men's tennis season continues this week when junior Joran Vliegen and freshman Colin Roller open play in the NCAA Doubles Championship at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex Thursday against the 10th-ranked Georgia Tech tandem of Vikram Hundal and Juan Spir. The match is scheduled to begin at approximately 2:30 p.m. CDT.
Vliegen and Roller received Conference USA's automatic entry into the 32-team single-elimination tournament. The duo was voted All-Conference USA after posting a 17-0 record at the No. 1 position during the season, winning 16 matches by multiple sets.
"It's a very big honor to represent ECU at the national championships," Vliegen said. "We're going to go out and try to play our best tennis."
The 62nd-ranked duo of Vliegen and Roller are the first players in school history to compete in the NCAA Tennis Championships.
