Miles Holvoet captured the `D' singles flight, while the duo of junior Damien Brenard and freshman Fredric Lehfeldt claimed the `B' doubles flight title at the UNC Wilmington Invitational over the weekend.
Holvoet won his quarterfinal and semifinal matches in straight sets before defeating ECU teammate Jared Morris in the championship match (2-1, def.) Morris also won his first two matches in straight sets before falling to Holvoet in the final.
Brenard and Lehfeldt defeated pairs from Tennessee-Chattanooga (UTC) and Liberty to advance to the title match and then narrowly defeated the ECU team of Morris and Blake Gregory, 8-6. Morris and Gregory ousted pairs from North Carolina Central and UNC Wilmington to reach the final.
After suffering a first round defeat in the `A' singles flight, Brenard won his next two matches to advance to the consolation final, falling in straight sets to Mitch McDaniels of New Mexico (1-6, 2-6).
Gregory advanced to the semifinals of the `C' singles flight bracket with consecutive straight set victories over foes from UTC and Liberty before falling to eventual flight winner Santtu Leskinnen.
The Pirates return to action in two weeks when they host the ECU Fall Shootout.
