GREENVILLE, N.C. -- East Carolina's men's and women's tennis teams will square off against some of the region's top competition this weekend when the Pirates participate in the Old Point National Bank Collegiate Tennis Invitational, hosted by Old Dominion University.

ECU is among 29 collegiate teams with representatives in the tournament, which will be held Friday through Sunday. The majority of matches will be played at the Huntington Park Tennis Center in Newport News, Va., with Hampton University and Center Court Racket Club being utilized as auxiliary sites. Both singles and doubles draws are scheduled for the 300 individuals entered in the tournament.

East Carolina's top two men's players, senior Charl Meyer and junior Paulo Baumer, will kick things off for the Pirates on Friday morning at 9 a.m. Meyer will face Virginia's Darrin Cohen while Baumer will take on Juancarlo Vazquez of American University.

The tournament is the last scheduled competition of the fall season for the ECU men. The Lady Pirates, meanwhile, have one more event slated as they will compete in the Southern Intercollegiate at the end of the month.
