Track and Field Splits Time at North Carolina A&T and LSU

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina University track and field teams competed in Aggie Relays and the LSU Alumni Gold meets over the weekend. Twenty Pirate women and six Pirate men earned top ten finishes. In the women's competition, the Pirates brought home four victories at the Aggie Relays. Brie Berkowitz' time of 53.29 in the 400 meter hurdles earned her 1st place honors. Aisha Bilal-Mack (1:00.55) also finished in the top ten, with a 7th place finish. Amy Mueller took home 1st place honors in the shot put with a mark of 14.33, while Danielle Eiler's mark of 13.36 was good for 3rd place. Eiler added to her honors with a 1st place mark in the discus event with a mark of 44.22. Emily Thompson came in 3rd with a mark of 42.09. In the hammer throw, Chelsea Salisbury (38.94) finished 2nd while Mary Puckett (36.63) came in 3rd. In the 3000 meter run, Nicole Briggs' time of 10:29.20 was good enough for 2nd place, while Danielle Fetty finished in 5th and Tayleigh Davis (10:58.30) came in 6th. Meghan Glassmacher finished 6th in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:58.20, while Fetty was 9th with a time of 5:02.50. In the high jump, both Valeria Moore (7th, 1.63) and Meghan Horne (8th, 1.60) finished in the top ten. In the relays, the 4x100 meter team came in 5th with a time of 47.67. The 4x200 squad came in 4th with a time of 1:48.00, while two 4x400 teams finished in the top five, `A' (3:53.00), and `B' (3:57.00). The distance medley relay team finished 1st with a time of 12:09.00.
The Pirate men split time between the Aggie Relays and the LSU Alumni Gold meet. At the Aggie Relays, John Loehr came in 2nd in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:43.85). Eric Frasure won the hammer throw event with a mark of 65.90 and took home 2nd in the shot put with a mark of 16.71.At the LSU Alumni Gold meet, Terrance Myers came in 2nd in the hammer throw event with a NCAA Regional Qualifying time of 59.71m. The 4x100 relay team came in 3rd with a time of 40.17 while the 4x400 squad was 7th with a time of 3:12.12. ECU compete in their final competition before the Conference USA Outdoor Championships April 27-28 as they compete in the Penn Relays. |
