GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina men's and women's indoor track and field teams turned in notable efforts at separate venues over the weekend, as the Pirates competed at the North Carolina Invitational in Chapel Hill while the Lady Pirates participated at the Patriot Games in Fairfax, Va.

Thrower Eric Frasur, who headlined a total of five individuals who earned top 10 standings for the men's squad, turned in another stellar performance with third-place showings in the shot put and weight throw. Frasur established a new career-best in the shot event with a throw of 15.78 meters to earn automatic ICAAAA qualification. He followed by turning in an 18.16 mark in the weight throw to help him surpass the ICAAAA standard for the fourth time this season.

Other top finishers for the Pirates include Thomas Lewis (60m/6th/6.90), Kherry Noray (200m/7th/career-best 22.44), Henry Cotto (60m hurdles/10th/career-best 7.94) and Mayso Porch (weight throw/4th/career-best 15.96). Cotto's 7.94 clip in the hurdle event marked a new school record, surpassing the previous standard of 8.00 set by Jeremy Carter in 2003.

Nicole Callaham (60m hurdles/9.16), Lindsey Rosales (pole vault/3.50) and Chelsea Salisbury (weight throw/13.89) all turned in first-place showings and bettered their career-best performances to pace the women's squad. Six other Lady Pirate athletes finished among the top five - including Amy Hart (400m/3rd/59.55; pole vault/3rd/3.05) Kerry Girona (400m/4th/1:00.31), Aisha Bilal-Mack (800m/5th/2:21.22), Danielle Lainez (pole vault/2nd/3.05), Jessica Georgio (weight throw/2nd/13.45) and Emily Thompson (weight throw/3rd/13.28).

ECU's 4x400 relay squad, consisting of Bilal-Mack, Hart, Girona and Alisha Hopkins, logged a third-place standing with a time of 4:04.61.

Both East Carolina programs will return to action at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., Saturday, Feb. 6.
