Indoor Track Teams Shoot for NCAA Marks at ECAC, Iowa State
03/08/2003 GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Indoor track competition continued today for select East Carolina University men's and women's athletes as the Pirates attempt to place more athletes in the fields for the upcoming NCAA Championships. East Carolina University's women's indoor track and field team finished the first day of ECAC Indoor Championships at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center, while several members of the Pirate men's team ran at the Iowa State NCAA Qualifier Meet in Ames, Iowa. In Boston, Shirena James was the seventh-fastest qualifier overall in the 60m (7.63) and advances on to tomorrow's finals. James also an a personal best in the 200m (24.61), which was the fifth best overall time during the trials and qualifies her for the finals tomorrow. Terri Davenport was sixth overall in the 200m (24.70) and will advance to run in tomorrow's finals. Tara DeBrielle ran a fast 800m in 2:13.66, but will not advance to tomorrow's finals. In men's track action at the Iowa State NCAA Qualifier, ECU's 4x400 medley relay team met its NCAA provisional qualifying time with a clocking of 3:10.19. In addition, Domonick Richmond placed 10th in the 400m (47.45).
