Men's Track Has Six Top Ten Finishes In Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. ~ East Carolina University's men's track and field team opened their outdoor season Saturday, March 22, at the Weems Baskin Relays held at the Weems Baskin Track by the University of South Carolina.

The Pirates competed against eleven other schools to grab two first place finishes and six top ten finishes. Senior sprinter Julien Dunkley (Westbury, N.Y.) won the 100-meter dash (10.62). The 1600 sprint medley team took first (3:28.19) and the 4x200 relay team placed second (1:23.92).

Senior Jamal Nisbett (Irvington, N.J.) came in fourth in the 1500-meter run (4:09.84)

In the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Ronnie Pollard (Hendersonville, N.C.) placed third (54.29) and freshman Justin Reed (Newton, N.J.) earned sixth place (58.06).

The Pirates head to Gainsville next weekend, March 28-29, to compete in the Florida Relays.
