WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The East Carolina University track and field teams competed in the Wake Forest Invitational this weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C. The meet was the second of the outdoor season.

In the women's competition, Camelia Morman had the highest finish of any Lady Pirate, placing fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.85 meters. The two relay teams on the women's side took home 10th place, with a time of 47.67 in the 4x100 meter relay and 3:53.92 in the 4x400 meter relay. Kharya Brown tallied two top 20 finishes, finishing 13th in the 100 meter dash (12.00) and 16th in the 200 meter dash (24.62). Chelsea Salisbury's mark of 55.59 meters in the hammer throw was good enough for 5th place.

In the men's competition, the Pirates finished third and eighth in the 4X100 meter relay with a time of 40.27 and 41.28. In the hammer throw, ECU took home two top five marks, as Terrance Myers came in 4th (60.25) while Eric Frasure finished 5th (58.49). ECU added two more top 20 finishes in the other field events, with Travis Covington taking home 20th in the long jump (6.58) and Spencer Barrick finishing 10th in the javelin (59.31). Brandon Small's time of 46.40 in the 400 meter dash was good enough for 3rd place. Kevin Thompson earned 8th place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.54.

ECU will travel to Cullowhee, N.C. to compete in a meet from March 30-31, hosted by Western Carolina.
