Frasure and Koto Record Top Finishes At The CNU Inviational

Newport News, Va. -- Freshman Eric Frasure claimed individual titles in the discuss and hammer throws, while teammate Hector Koto placed first in the 400-meter hurdles at the Christopher Newport University Invitational on Saturday, April 24.

Frasure (Charlotte, N.C.) set a school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 181-07 feet to claim top honors. In the discuss, he posted a throw of 149-05, 12 feet further than the second place finisher. He also participated in the shot put, where he finished third. Mayso Porch finished fourth in the discuss and second in the hammer throw behind Frasure.

At the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., Ron Pollard (Hendersonville, N.C.) finished 39th in the 400-meter hurdle championships with a time of 54.35. The 4x100 meter team of Deandre Hyman, Damarcus Fox, Darrus Cofield, and B.J. Henderson placed second in the IC4A division with a time of 40.84. In the preliminaries, the 4x100 team posted an NCAA qualifying time of 40.41.

The Pirates will be back in action on May 1 when they travel to the NC vs. SC All-Star meet in Clemson, S.C.
