Freshman Belfiore Records Career-Best Finishing Eighth At McAlister's Deli Invite

GREENVILLE - The East Carolina University men's cross country team placed four runners in the top 20 of the team's third place finish at the McAlister's Deli Invite (8k), held at the Pirates home course of Lake Kristi.
Freshman Chris Belfiore recorded career-bests in time and finish (8, 26:13.88) to pace the team, and along with Kristian Jorgensen, placed two Pirates in the top 10. Jorgensen crossed the line just twelve seconds later.
High Point University, which swept the competition for both men's and women's, placed six individuals among the first ten to cross the finish line. Tamas Kovacs finished with a time of 24:44.91 to set the pace for the remainder of the field that would follow thereafter.
Also with a strong day for the Pirates was Stephen Tausend (14, 26:57.44), with fellow freshman Will Collins (27:09.33) and Drew Jenkins (28:41.81) rounding out the highest finishers on the afternoon.
ECU's next scheduled meet is the Pre NCAA Invitational, set to be held in Terre Haute, Indiana on the campus of Indiana State University on October 15th.
