Cary, N.C. –– The East Carolina men's cross country team finished in second place at the Great American Cross Country Festival at SAS Soccer Park on Friday. Matt Hanlon was the Pirates' top finisher with a third place finish.

Kyle MacKenzie, Craig Schmidt and John Loeher each recorded top 25 finishes to help ECU complete the meet behind only Jacksonville State.

On the ladies' side, senior Johanna Allen finished in second place, 1.2 seconds behind race winner Jemissa Hess of High Point. Jessica Collins also recorded a top finish for the Pirates, placing sixth overall. As a team the Pirates finished in sixth place.
