Pirates volunteer community service hours
Eric McCabe joined the East Carolina women's basketball staff as the Director of Basketball Operations in September of 2012.
In his first year with the Pirates, McCabe was part of an ECU squad that posted a 22-10 overall record and an 11-5 mark in Conference USA action en route to securing a No. 2 seed in the conference tournament to mark the Pirates' highest ever seeding. McCabe comes to ECU after working as the assistant manager of event ticketing at Hershey Entertainment and Resorts in Hershey, Pa. There he was responsible for building shows and events on the ticketing system, overseeing the day-of-show ticketing operations, assisting with group sales, managing season ticket holder accounts, and serving as the box office manager on duty for events.
Prior to his stint at Hershey, McCabe worked at Bucknell University for six years where he served as the athletic ticket manager and campus box office assistant, as well as marketing and promotions assistant. In the ticket office, McCabe was in charge of the sale and distribution of football and basketball season and single-game tickets. He also managed online and at-the-door distribution of student and employee tickets. He coordinated ticket sales for a number of events, such as the 2011 NCAA Men's basketball Tournament and 2012 Men's Basketball NIT, as well as the 2010, 2011, and 2012 Men's Patriot League Basketball Tournament and 2011 Women's Patriot League Basketball Tournament.
As a marketing assistant, McCabe scheduled promotional activities for all 27 Division-I varsity sports and Directed all in-game operations and promotions for football, men's and women's basketball, and various Olympic sports. In addition, he developed and managed the Junior Bison Club activities, created a marketing plan for the re-launch of the wrestling program, scheduled radio appearances of the Bucknell coaching staff on the weekly radio show "Bison Live," and served as the marketing contact for the 2007 Patriot League Men's Basketball Tournament.
McCabe got his start in collegiate athletics while working as a student assistant for the Saint Francis (Pa.) women's basketball team. At Saint Francis, he assisted the coaching staff with on-court instruction, individual instruction of post players, summer camp preparation, and team travel. He also managed preparation of practices and the implementation of women's basketball radio advertising. Furthermore, McCabe was the marketing director for the Coach Jill Poe Basketball Camp.
A 2006 graduate of Saint Francis (Pa.) University, McCabe brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the East Carolina women's basketball program. He earned his Masters of Science in Recreation and Sports Administration with a concentration in Athletic Administration and Coaching from Western Kentucky University in 2011 and looks to continue his path of success with the Pirates.
