ATLANTA, GA - The East Carolina women's basketball team returned to the court after an eleven day absence falling short of Davidson 70-61 at the Hyatt Regency Invite hosted by Georgia State.

Cherie Mills recorded her fifth double-double, and second in as many games, of the season while registering 18 points and 10 rebounds. Freshmen Impris Manning led all bench players with nine points and nine rebounds.

Following a sluggish first half of shooting, the Lady Pirates (6-4, 0-1) responded with a 14-6 run over the first 4:55 of the second cutting the Wildcat (4-6) deficit to 41-35. ECU continued its strong defense, while giving themselves multiple opportunities on the offensive boards, over the next seven minutes of action to remain at 49-47 at the 8:20 mark.

Cherie Mills picked up her fourth foul with 6:56 remaining in the game, and the Lady Pirates trailing 54-49 were unable to crack the Wildcat defense and pull closer.

A tough first half of shooting for East Carolina, connecting on 9-of-32 shots (28.1%), resulting in a 35-21 halftime deficit. Led by reserve Impris Manning and Cherie Mills, who each scored six points, the Lady Pirates offense was limited by two early fouls on Mills.

Following her sixth consecutive point for ECU, and trailing by an 8-6 margin, Cherie Mills picked up her second foul in a two minute span and was relegated to the bench. Behind freshmen Manning who scored the next four East Carolina points, and a layups by Slack and Nicole Days, the deficit was trimmed to 27-14. With Jessica Honesty, Jasmine Young, Slack, and fellow freshmen LaCoya Horton all receiving minutes. Consecutive baskets by Horton and Manning helped East Carolina shave the Wildcats lead at 14 points at the half.
