GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The East Carolina women's basketball team used a 12-1 run to start the second half to record its fourth win of the season Tuesday night over in-state foe N.C. A&T 81-56 inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

The Pirates (4-9), who had three starters in double figures, were led by senior guard Jennifer Jackson and her game-high 23 points. Junior LaToya Horton recorded a career-high 11 points and two blocks in 25 minutes of action. Senior Viola Cooper recorded her 18th career double-digit game with 10 points, connecting on 3-of-6 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from behind the arc.

Jackson made her first of 10 baskets to open the game and the Pirates never looked back, opening a 10-point lead (12-2) in the first four minutes of the game. LaKeisha Williams reverse lay-up with 4:52 left in the first half cut the Pirates lead to 13, but that was as close as the Aggies (1-9) would get. The Pirates built a 20-point lead during the half and led by 13 at intermission, 36-23.

ECU would extend its lead in the second half to 26 points (55-29) on Catherine Coley's lone basket of the night and would find themselves up by 27 with 6:39 left in the game.

"I was extremely proud of the way our four-man played tonight," said Head Coach Sharon Baldwin-Tener. "Nicole (Days) had a 13 rebounds and LaToya hit 11 points and that was big for us. I thought we played well in the second half in not letting up in our play."

Kira Tillman led N.C. A&T with 12 points and Williams netted 10 points and four rebounds.

The Pirates will try to carry their momentum over to the Conference USA opener on Friday, Jan. 7 against Memphis inside Williams Arena with a 7 p.m. start time scheduled.
