Clarke Garners Second-Team All-C-USA Honors
March 6, 2010
TULSA, Okla. - Sophomore guard Ashley Clarke has earned selection to the 2010 Conference USA Second Team, as announced by the league office Saturday. It marks the eighth-straight season that East Carolina has had an all-league honoree. Clarke ranks in the top 15 in many league categories, including assists per game (5.6), steals (60), minutes played (32.0), scoring (11.6) and defensive rebounds (111). In the latest national rankings, she is 17th in assists per game. Additionally, the Myrtle Beach, S.C., native is first for the Lady Pirates in scoring, free throws made, assists and steals. In conference contests, she leads ECU in rebounding at 6.4 per game despite playing all 16 tilts at the point guard position. Clarke has produced four double-doubles this season, one in non-conference play against VCU and three in conference action versus UCF, UAB and Tulsa. She also owns five double-digit assist efforts in 2009-10, the most by any guard in C-USA, to go along with 18 double-figure scoring games. In the ECU single-season program ledger, Clarke recently moved into ninth-place with 161 assists. On the career list, she needs just 26 to take over 10th. The Lady Pirates open the 2010 GMC Sierra Conference USA Women's Basketball Championship on Monday in Tulsa, Okla. as the fifth seed, taking on 12th-seeded Southern Miss at the Reynolds Center at 3:30 p.m. EST. 2010 All-C-USA Women's Basketball Teams
