Brown Garners C-USA Freshman of the Week Accolades

IRVING, Texas - East Carolina freshman guard J'Kyra Brown was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Saturday afternoon. The honors are the second of the year for the Rocky Mount, N.C., native.

Brown turned in her eighth double-figure performance of the year at Old Dominion on Wednesday when she tallied 10 points to go along with three rebounds, two assists and one steal. She shot 37.5-percent from the field as she connected on 3-of-8 field goals in 21 minutes of action.

On the year, Brown is averaging 5.4 points per game and 1.8 rebounds per contest to go along with 20 assists, 14 steals and eight blocks. She is shooting 40.1-percent from the field, 31.5-percent from three-point range, and 73.5-percent from the free throw line.

Brown earned the weekly honors along with Rice's Jessica Kuster who took home Conference USA Player of the Week accolades.

East Carolina has earned a No. 5 seed in the Conference USA Tournament and will take on the winner of the No. 12 Rice/No. 13 FIU game on Wednesday, March 12, at 3:30 p.m. (ET).
