GREENVILLE, N.C. --- The 2012-13 East Carolina Women's Basketball schedule features 15 home games and 14 road games, five of which are against teams that participated in post-season play a year ago.
"This year's schedule poses many diverse challenges for us," Pirate head coach Heather Macy said. "Our non-conference opponents play a variety of styles that will prepare us to navigate another competitive Conference USA season.
"We are looking forward to matching up against several of the top teams in our league for the final time as the conference makeup changes next season."
The Pirates will be on the road to face NCAA Tournament contestants Navy (Nov. 30) and UTEP (Jan. 13), while also facing WNIT participants VCU (Dec. 16), Memphis (Jan. 17) and Tulane (Jan. 27) away from Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
After opening the season on the road against William & Mary (Nov. 9), the Pirates will play their next five games at home capped by the ECU Pirate Invitational Thanksgiving Tournament with games against Norfolk State (Nov. 24) and Campbell (Nov. 25).
Five of their next seven non-conference games will be on the road with a pair of home games in the month of December against North Carolina Central (Dec. 4) and Elon (Dec. 29).
ECU will participate in the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md. Nov. 30 - Dec. 1 with an opening round game against the Midshipmen before challenging either Monmouth or High Point. The Pirates will also take part in the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and take on North Carolina (Dec. 19). They will close out their non-conference schedule against George Mason (Jan. 2) in Fairfax, Va.
Conference USA play begins Jan. 10 with ECU hosting Rice before playing three of its next four games on the road. The Pirates will head to UTEP (Jan. 13), Memphis (Jan. 17) and Tulane (Jan. 27) during the first month of the year and welcome Tulsa (Jan. 20) and Marshall (Jan. 31) to Greenville in addition to Rice.
The Pirates travel to Marshall (Feb. 21) and UCF (Feb. 24) before playing their final two home games against UAB (Feb. 28) and Memphis (March 3). ECU will close out the regular season at Southern Miss (March 7).
The C-USA tournament returns to Tulsa, Okla. for the first time since 2010 and will be held March 13-16 at the BOK Center and Tulsa Convention Center.
Game times for all Conference USA games and television selections are to be announced at a later date.
