ECU Women Resume Action Against North Carolina A&T
12/18/2002 East Carolina's women's basketball team will host North Carolina A&T in the final home game of the year 2002 on Thursday, Dec. 19. The game, which will be played at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum, is slated for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. The two teams have faced each other 11 times previously. ECU leads the all-time series, 7-4.
SCOUTING THE PIRATES The Lady Pirates are 3-4 this season, with wins coming over Howard, Bethune- Cookman and Alabama. The Pirates are shooting 44.5 percent from the field this season, and 63 percent from the free throw line. In six of the Pirates' seven games this season, three or more players have posted double-figure points. The only game in which three players didn't hit double-figured scoring was the Duke game. Tali Robich was the only player to score 10 or more points. She had 13 on the night. In the games against Bethune-Cookman and Alabama, every participating player scored at least two points. The Lady Pirates have already won two more games than at this point in the season last year, and have half as many wins as the entire 2001-02 season.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES NC A&T is coached by Saudia Roundtree, in her first season with the Aggies. Roundtree played basketball at the University of Georgia and was the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year in 1996. The Aggies are 0-5 this season, having most recently lost to South Carolina State by a score of 78-57. North Carolina A&T also has losses to VCU, UNC Asheville, High Point and Auburn. The team is led in scoring by Camile Akins, who after three games was averaging 21.0 points per outing. Akins led the team in scoring last season as well, finishing the year with an average of 141.4 points per game. Tia Richardson leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.3 boards per game.
