GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Coming off an impressive 68-64 win over ACC member Wake Forest, the East Carolina women's basketball team looks to extend its winning streak to five games and improve to 7-3 on the season. ECU will play the first of four games in seven days when it travels to Orangeburg, S.C., to face South Carolina State, Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m at Claflin College.

The Lady Pirates (6-3) hold a 3-2 series advantage over the Lady Bulldogs (3-5), but have not won since Nov. 26, 1988. In the last meeting between the two schools, Nov. 25, 2002, the Lady Bulldogs defeated ECU 74-71 at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

Against Wake Forest, senior Courtney Willis led three Lady Pirates in double figures as she recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and 15 rebounds. She was 8-of-15 from the floor and 1-of-1 from the line in 40 minutes of play.

Fellow Pirates Viola Cooper and Jennifer Jackson also scored in double figures, with Cooper hitting three 3-pointers and connecting on all four free throw attempts. She finished the game with a 13 points, which tied a career-high, and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the field. Jackson poured in 14 points, connecting on two 3-pointers and going a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.

ECU had nine players to score against Wake Forest and shot 86.4 percent from the free throw line (19-22).

South Carolina State enters the game with a 3-5 record, posting victories against College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina and North Carolina A&T. Two of the Lady Bulldogs' losses this season have come against top-25 teams, as they fell 78-47 to California and 90-51 to North Carolina.

The Lady Bulldogs have two players averaging double figures and are led by Nicole Rhem. The senior guard is averaging 13.6 points and 8.8 rebounds and has led the team in scoring in three games and rebounding in six games. S.C. State is coming off a 76-54 loss to Middle Tennessee State, where sophomore guard Latoya Dent scored a game-high 18 points.

ECU's next game will be at home when it hosts Savannah State on New Year's Day at 3 p.m. inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. The Lady Pirates will then hit the road for a pair of non-conference games against Arkansas State (Jan. 3) and Murray State (Jan. 5), before heading into conference play against UAB on Jan. 9.
