ECU Trio Sits In Top-20 At Clover Cup

MESA, Ariz. - A trio of East Carolina women's golfers (Fanny Wolte, Frida Gustafsson Spang and Nicoline Engstroem Skaug) currently sit atop the leaderboard after 18 holes at the Clover Cup. The three-day, 54-hole event is being held at the Longbow Golf Club and is hosted by Notre Dame.

Wolte, who is tied for 11th, fired a 2-over 74 consisting of 13 pars, two birdies and three bogeys. Spang is one shot behind Wolte sitting in a tie for 14th after an opening round 3-over 75, while Skaug is two shots back at 4-over and is tied for 19th.

Rounding out the Pirates five-player roster are juniors Katie Kirk (80) and Emily Eng (81), who are tied for 62nd and 74th.

Notre Dame's Kristina Nhim fired the low round of the day, a 4-under 68, and holds a one-shot lead over Michigan's Grace Choi and Colorado's Jennifer Coleman.

In the team portion of the event, Colorado (292) leads Michigan (298) by six strokes, while Notre Dame and Louisville are tied for third at 299. Nebraska sits in fifth after an opening score of 300 followed by Mississippi (304), Kennesaw State (304) and East Carolina (305).
