Day One Results Get Acrobat Reader

BRYAN, Texas - The East Carolina women's golf team opened up the 2013-14 season posting an 11-over par 299 at The "MO"morial and are currently sitting in fifth place after 18 holes. The 12-team, three-day event is being held at the par-72 Traditions Club.

Junior Katie Kirk leads the way for the Pirates after carding an opening round 1-over par 73 (36-37) and currently owns a share of 10th place. The Davidson, N.C. native recorded birdies on the par-3 No. 2 and No. 16, collected 13 pars while posting three bogeys.

Reigning Conference USA Player-of-the-Year Frida Gustafsson Spang (36-39) and senior Fanny Wolte (40-35) sit two strokes back of Kirk at 3-over par. Gustafsson Spang posted three birdies and 10 pars, while Wolte had a pair of birdies and 12 pars.

Rounding out the Pirates roster are junior Emily Eng (41-35=76) and sophomore Nicoline Engstroem Skaug (42-38=80), who are tied for 29th and 55th after first round action.

Host Texas A&M (290/2-over) holds a four-stroke advantage over Kentucky (294/6-over), while UCF (296/8-over) and Virginia (298/10-over) round out the Top-5.

Kentucky's Haley Mills leads the event after an opening round 2-under 70 and clings to a one-shot advantage over five competitors who are all tied at 1-under.
