Wolte Claims Second Career Top-15 Finish

2010 Windy City Collegiate Classic HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. - Freshman Fanny Wolte recorded her second-straight top-15 finish after carding a three-over 74 on the final day of the 2010 Windy City Collegiate Classic. The 54-hole event was being held at the par-71, 6,108-yard Northmoor Country Club. Wolte, who finished 14th, recorded two birdies and 11 pars Tuesday afternoon to finish with an 11-over 224 (78-72-74) to pace East Carolina's (17-6-1) seventh place finish. In all, she had six birdies and 34 pars in her second collegiate event. Senior Amber Littman posted her 20th career top-20 placement with a two-day score of 226 (73-74-79), which consisted of three birdies and 41 pars. Going into final round action, Littman was tied for eighth, but four bogeys on the back nine dropped her into a tie for 17th. Colleen Estes recorded her best round of the young season with a two-over 73. The Cary, N.C. native logged three birdies and 10 pars during final round play to move up 10 spots for a share of 37th. Amy Otteson finished tied for 40th with a score of 236 (81-78-77), while Faith Hardison claimed a share of 51st with a 54-hole score of 242 (80-79-83). Junior Julia Strandberg recorded her career-best finish, a tie for 33rd, after a closing round of six-over 77 for a tournament score of 233 (73-83-77) as an individual for the Pirates. ECU (312-302-303=917) began the day in a three-way tie for sixth with New Mexico and TCU, but slipped to eight shots behind host Northwestern in the final standings while finishing 14 shots behind TCU, who used a round-best 289 to surge into fourth. Purdue won its third-straight Windy City Classic title, posting a 24-over 876 (290-293-293) and holding off second-place Iowa State (31-over, 883) by seven strokes. Texas Tech capped the 54-hole tournament with a 39-over 891 (299-296-296) to place third in the team standings. The Boilermakers' Numa Gulyanamitta became the third different Purdue golfer to take home the individual title, finishing with a 2-over 215 (72-73-70), while Iowa State's Prima Thammaraks and TCU's Brooke Beeler tied for runner-up honors with a 4-over 217. The Pirates will be back on the links Oct. 11-12 when they host the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate at the Greenville Country Club.
