Women's Golf In Fifth With One Round Remaining At Papa John's Collegiate
02/21/2005 Miami, Fla. - The East Carolina women's golf team posted a second round score of 312 and currently sit in fifth place with 18-holes remaining at the Papa John's Collegiate. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,190-yard Don Shula Golf Club. Freshman Emelie Lind carded a six-over par 78 and dropped to a tie for fifth place on Monday. Currently she is three strokes off the lead and four ahead of fellow Pirates Adrienne Millican (74-78=152) and Michelle Williams (75-77=152), who are both tied or 13th. The Pirates (52-27-1) are 13 shots behind host school and tournament leader Miami (296-299=595) and six strokes behind Virginia (602) who occupies second place. UNC Wilmington (603) and Mississippi State (607) are third and fourth respectively. Mississippi State's Beth Irwin (145) currently sits in first in the individual portion of the event after firing a two-under par 70 on Monday. Sitting in second is Josie Shinn (Miami), Michelle Jarman (UNCW) and Hagen Weintraub (Miami) at 146. "The team struggled a little bit today," said Head Coach Kevin Williams. "We're not in bad shape heading into the final round and have a chance to move into the top two spots in the tournament."
