Women's Golf Moves Up To First Place At Edwin Watts Carolinas Classic
03/02/2003

PINEHURST, N.C. -- The East Carolina University women's golf team moved from third place to first place at the Edwin Watts/Carolinas Classic on Saturday, shooting a 309 in the second round for a combined two-round score of 620.

The second round action of the Edwin Watts/Carolinas Collegiate Classic was suspended for rain with four teams still on the field. Those teams will finish at 8 a.m. Sunday before the regularly scheduled shotgun start tees off at 9:30 a.m. The four teams that failed to finish were William & Mary, Radford, Winthrop and Appalachian State. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 5,898-yard Pinehurst #8.

"We really stumbled coming out of the first few holes," said East Carolina head coach Kevin Williams. "In the middle of the course we played about as solid as we could and we hopefully put ourselves in a position to win this tournament."

Preliminary results from Saturday showed that East Carolina's Jessica Krasny was in a tie for second place. However, individual results from the tournament were not available due to the postponement of the final holes from Saturday.
