Women's Golf Sits In Third Heading To Final Round Action
03/08/2005 PINEHURST, N.C. - The East Carolina women's golf team dropped two places in second round action at the Pinehurst Challenge after carding a 319 score and sit in third place heading into final round action on Tuesday. The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,009-yard Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course. The Pirates (62-28-1) have three players currently ranked in the top-22 and are led by sophomore Jessica Hauser (Germanton, N.C.), who is tied for 14th after a second round score of 81. "Despite the tough winds, I think we are in a great position to pick up some quality regional wins," said Head Coach Kevin Williams. "We will need a constant group effort on Tuesday to help get us closer to the NCAA's." Adrienne Millican (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) is tied for 16th (74-81=155) and Michelle Williams sits tied for 22nd with a two-day total of 157 (78-79). Nationally ranked Washington State shot the low-round of the tournament (301) and has a commanding 14 stroke lead over UNC Wilmington (618). Mississippi State (624) and Oregon (628) round out the top-five. UNC Wilmington's Becky Berzonski leads the field after posting her second score of 73, one-over par, and has a two shot lead over teammate Michelle Jarman and Washington State's Maria Kostina, the first round leader.
